Cocoa, Cookies & Code – STEM Saturday in Dothan

December 13, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am CST

☕🍪 A Holiday STEM Experience for Young Builders!

Step into a winter-themed STEM adventure where students explore coding, creativity, and hands-on engineering. This STEM Saturday transforms our Dothan space into Cocoa, Cookies & Code—a cozy environment where logic, teamwork, and festive fun come together.

On Saturday, December 13, 2025, the RCX Sports Foundation invites students in grades 4+ to dive into seasonal coding challenges and take on a guided engineering project. Students will rotate through activities that mix digital creativity with real-world problem-solving, enjoying warm cocoa and sweet treats throughout the morning.

What You’ll Explore:

🍪 Coding Logic Challenges – Students use age-friendly coding tools to solve winter-themed puzzles, create sequences, and explore the logic behind programming.

🎄 Creative Coding Stations – Mini-activities such as animated holiday cards, pattern-based coding games, and unplugged logic exercises.

🔧 Hydraulic Arm Build – Students work in small groups to design and assemble a working hydraulic arm using syringes, tubing, and popsicle sticks. They’ll learn how fluid power creates movement and how engineers use hydraulics in real machines.

💡 STEM Career Connections – Explore how coding, mechanics, and hydraulics appear in fields like robotics, heavy equipment, aviation, and industrial engineering.

Why It Matters

  • The RCX Sports Foundation is committed to strengthening STEM access and opportunity across Dothan and the Wiregrass region.
  • Cocoa, Cookies & Code makes STEM approachable and exciting by blending creativity, engineering, and computational thinking. The addition of the hydraulic arm challenge helps students connect physics concepts to real-world applications, building confidence in both coding and hands-on design.
  • By sparking curiosity through joyful learning experiences, RCX continues to expand a sustainable STEM ecosystem that empowers students to imagine themselves as innovators, problem-solvers, and future engineers.
